The 2003 Custom Builder Gold Award of Excellence
for a Traditional Home
(Best in classs for homes over 7,500 Square
Feet).
The 2004 Custom Builder Silver Award of Excellence
for a Transitional Home
(Best in classs for homes over 7,500 Square
Feet).
The Award, presented by Maryland-National
Capital Building Industry Association (MNCBIA) which honors builder
excellence in the Washington metropolitan region including Montgomery
County. The winning entry (shown above) was for a recently completed
home in Potomac, MD represents the culmination of quality craftsmanship
by Bogdan Builders and John Leslie Neufeld Architects.
The two-story Foyer
presents a grand entry with Crema Marfil floors and sweeping curved
staircase. Upon entry the viewer is at once struck by a deep perspective
visible on both sides through a series of apposing archways. A unique
exterior loggia complete with it’s own fireplace. Classic
spaces adjacent to the foyer are designed for year round comfort
and include an elegant Grand Salon with a tray
ceiling, Dining room with a vaulted ceiling and
decorative moldings, paneled library with a classic
Palladian window anchoring the rear wall. A fireplace and custom
bookcases line the remaining walls and a Bar and Billiard
Room paneled in Knotty Pine.
The sunken Family Room
provides large and small conversation areas. A fireplace provides
comfort for family gatherings while modern conveniences such as
built- in AV systems are integrated minimizing their intrusion.
The spaciousness of both the Kitchen and Breakfast Room is very
accommodating for group conversations during food preparation. On
the second floor the terrace above the loggia is lined with a decorative
cast stone balustrade and overlooks the pool. Also accessing the
terrace is the luxurious Master Suite which includes
all of the features that one would expect from a house of this caliber.
A custom designed fireplace and mantel matches the built-ins within
the Suite. The private master bath with Jacuzzi is finished in warm
Rojo Coralito marble.
The lower level includes ample entertainment and
play spaces. Three archways open into an extensive wine cellar.
And finally the Transitions interior design team helped to put the
finishing touches on this Bogdan Builders masterpiece.
